Individual Questions

  Choose two of the following questions and write your response to each in no more than a page.

     Argue for or against the point of view that browsing is publishing on the fly.

     Argue for or against the point of view that browsing is a form of authoring.

     Reflecting on how the figure of the author was constructed in the past, speculate on the author function in cyberspace.

     Argue for or against the point of view that the physical forms through which texts are transmitted to their readers affect the process of the construction of meaning.

     What will be the history of electronic publishing and the web? Who will retain copyright? Where is the publisher?

     Distinguish as many differences as you are able between an author and a writer, historically, in modern times, and in the future.

     Argue for or against the point of view that we are trying to adapt the modern technology of dissemination to an archaic patronage economy.
