Summary

This paper refers to the use of video for the study of collaborative work in design tasks. In particular it analyzes the use of a shared drawing surface when designing. From this study, some points are noteworthy. First, hand gestures are used to convey precise information. Second, orientation of the drawing surface is used for coordination and floor control. Third, the drawing surface serves multiple functions, storing information, expressing ideas and mediating the interaction.
