Object Lens: A "Spreadsheet" for Cooperative Work

I am tempted to say, in regard to this article, "close, but no cigar".

It used most of the edge technology of the time: objects, "semi-formal" structures, hypertext, etc. In paper looks good, but what happened that after ten years is still not the case for similar systems to be the default applications in offices. It seems that the cost/benefit for the users was not a good one, and that there was no real necessity for most of the features of the system.
