A long discussion about e-mail application interface.
The authors make some bold statements at the beginning of the paper that might prove somehow controversial. While it is good to have an iterative process, and involve the users in the design of the system, the assumption that the only way to design CSCW is by having a target population seems just a little too much. While this is a good thing to have, some correct assumptions can be inferred from observational and ethnographic studies.
It is interesting how they discovered that the very automated AVISOR II, did not work on the real world and how they backtracked to a more informal and less automated approach.
