Daily Readings
Two students will be identified to facilitate discussion of each of the
readings. This note is intended to describe what this means.
It is my intent that we hold discussions about the papers rather than sit
through presentations of their contents. Thus, for each paper, the students
should be prepared to do the following:
- Briefly summarize the paper in five minutes or less. No slides are to be
used.
- Know who the authors are, where they are, and what kinds of things they are
interested in.
- Be prepared to be a resource in understanding the paper. For example, if
there are difficult parts in the paper, be prepared to answer questions about
them.
Everyone in the class is expected to read all of the scheduled papers before
the class.
