Collaboration policy for assignments

Our assignment policy allows consultation but not copying. We recognize that there are benefits gained when students discuss topics with each other. However, when two students' assignments include duplicated answers, it is likely that one of the students does not have a complete understanding of the answer.

Effective immediately, assignments (homeworks and projects) must include a list of any additional sources that you consulted. This includes other students, Web sites, other readings, etc. This does not include the course's materials or personnel (instructor and TA).

Assignments must be the work of the individual (for homeworks) or team (for projects) alone. It is OK to discuss general concepts and approaches with other students. It is not OK to copy answers or code. We have been keeping a list of duplicated assignments. Our policy now will be that we will not award credit for duplicated assignments.
