The TAMU Herbarium supports biosystematic research (see publications) that involves field collection of experimental material - usually fruits or seeds - from populations of target taxa, mostly Chenopodium and Cucurbita. These materials are returned to the lab, often grown out under greehouse or field conditions, and used for some form of data acquisition, often either molecular or morphometric. Specimens are taken as 'vouchers' to document the specific plants and populations that were used in quantitative analyses. While these voucher specimens are, for various reasons, sheltered from accessioning procedures applied to TAMU floristic samples, access to information associated with this assemblage is useful for curation and on-going research.
