The growing range of this sprawling perennial
is found in Texas and Mexico. Walker's manioc is found in the Texas
southern plains rerion around Hidalgo County and into Tamaulipas, Mexico.
There is also a colony at the University of Texas at Austin that was started
from cuttings found in the De La Hoya area.
