Zizana texana is one out of four species of Zizania. Zizania palustris is most common in Northern United States and Canada. Zizania aquatica is also found in Northern United States and in Canada but is distinguished by its few flowers and leaves. Lastly, Zizania latifolia is found in Manturia, Korea, Burma, New England, and India.
